This is the first level of the RBI Grade B selection process. It is an exam meant for screening the candidates on the basis of a 200 marks paper. It has four major sections that are to be solved in the time frame of 120 minutes. The sectional time limit is also allotted for each section. The candidates need to be well versed with the RBI Grade B paper pattern for Phase 1 to perform exceptionally well and meet the cutoffs.

The marking scheme for the first and the third paper of the RBI Grade B involves some questions carrying 1 mark, while some carrying 2 marks will aggregate to 50 marks. In the descriptive section, the applicants need to attempt a total of 4 questions, and if they attempt more questions then only the first 4 will be checked.
The aspirants will have to attempt two questions of 15 marks that will meet the difficulty level, and two questions of 10 marks each.
The candidates who will be able to qualify the second phase of the examination will appear for the interview round. The concerned authorities of the Reserve Bank of India will determine the cutoff marks for the candidates. The cumulative marks obtained by the candidates in all three papers will be considered for the final cutoff.
It is important for candidates to be well aware of the RBI Grade B exam pattern to excel in the exam. It is a three-tier process; the Phase 1 examination contains online, objective questions. The major subjects of the examination are General Awareness, Quantitative Reasoning, English Language, and Reasoning.
