Apart from these compulsory papers, the mains candidates are given optional papers which ranges from language subjects to all other preferred subject of the candidates. Paper 1 contains 200 marks, paper 2 contains 200.

According to WBCS Salary, officers will get their salary according to the slab mentioned below.
● Grade A - 15,600 to 42,000 INR Per Month.
● Grade B - 15,600 to 42,000 INR Per Month

● Grade D - 7,100 to 37,600 INR Per Month.
There are three stages in the selection process for the WBCS 2024 which are Prelims, Mains & Personality Test (Interview). Mains and Prelims are two mandatory to attend written tests while shortlisted candidates of mains exam will be called for personality test. This is also known as an interview.
