What is the BPSC Exam?

The Bihar Public Service Commission conducts the Bihar Civil Service examination to recruit candidates to various vacancies in the General Administrative Department.  BPSC holds the Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) in three stages: Prelims, Mains, and Interview. BPSC Eligibility 2023

The age limit for general males is 20 - 37 years. There is also a provision for relaxation in the upper BPSC age limit for reserved categories. This relaxation is based on the category of the candidates.

BPSC Age Relaxation

Reserved candidates are eligible for relaxation in the upper BPSC age limit. The age relaxation for ex-servicemen is 3 years plus the years of service. Those applying under the Persons with Disability (PwD) category, the age relaxation of 10 years is given.

      BPSC has also defined age eligibility for government servants who have been in continuous service for at least three years.

      The upper age limit for such candidates according to the Commission is relaxed by 05 years.

BPSC Educational Qualification

Aspirants should have Graduation or equivalent degree from a government-recognized university. There are no specialized fields mentioned or minimum marks in graduation. The only condition in the educational criteria is to have a Graduation degree from a recognized institute.

BPSC Selection Process

The BPSC selection process comprises three main stages. The final result of the candidates is based on the scores obtained by them in these three stages: Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, and Interview. Those who will clear all the exams and the Interview will get shortlisted for the Bihar Civil Services.

      The first stage as per the BPSC notification, i.e. the Prelims is composed of a single paper on General Studies.

      The exam carried 150 marks and applicants get 2 hours for the same.

      The Prelims exam is qualifying in nature, and the candidate who successfully clears the cutoff is eligible for the Mains exam.

      The candidates who are able to clear the Mains level are called for the final interview.
