● Indian Air Force Group X & Y are the personnel below officer rank in the Indian Air Force also known as Airmen.
● The Indian Air Force conducts the Group X & Y exam for the selection of airmen into the Indian Air Force.
● Indian Air Force Group X & Y is a national level examination which is conducted twice a year, first in March and next in September.
● This exam is conducted for young undergraduates who are looking for an opportunity to join the Indian Air Force.
The exam is only applicable for Male candidates who are selected in the following branches/trades:
● Students who have passed/appeared in 10+2 with Physics and Maths are eligible for Group X trade.
● Their work profile includes maintenance of all fields related to Aircraft, ground systems, etc.
● Students who have passed/appeared in 10+ 2 in any stream are eligible for Group Y trade.
● Their work profile includes all work other than technical like logistics, administration, accounts, etc.
The Airmen in Group X & Group Y get recruited by the Indian Air Force for the next course via online applications for unmarried male citizens of India & Nepal. We have provided below the eligibility criteria for various entries under the Tour of Duty scheme. Otherwise they will not be allowed to participate in the recruitment process.
● A candidate should be a citizen of India.
● Nepalese male candidates are also eligible.
● Only the candidates born between 29 December 1999 and 29 June 2005 (both days inclusive) are eligible to apply for Indian Air Force Group X Y 2024 recruitment.

Examinees of the Group 'X' examination (based on the percentage of intermediate/10+2) are also eligible to sit for Group Y. They can mention this choice of appearing in two exams can be mentioned while completing the online registration form. That means, 49.99% will not be considered 50%.

Airmen are eligible to receive a reasonable wage along with other perks such as housing, ration, self, and dependent medical services, self and family LTC, education loans, interest-free home repair or sister/daughter wedding loans, children's scholarships, etc. and the proper promotion.
Group X and Y employees are known as PBOR (person below the rank of officer) or airmen. Group X Airmen take care of the technical areas subject to their business while Group Y airmen of the non-technical streams such as Logistics, Administration, Accounts, etc.
The Group X's technical job posts are known as- Airframe Fitter, Propulsion Fitter, Weapon Fitter, Electrical Fitter, Electronic Fitter, Mechanical Fitter, Automotive Fitter, and Workshop Fitter. The Group Y's non-technical posts are- Accounts Assistant, Administrative Assistant, Logistics Assistant, Operation Assistant, Medical Assistant, IAF Police & Security, Ground Training Instructor, Environmental Support Services Assistant, Meteorological Assistant, Musician, and Cryptographer.
While getting trained, Airmen will get a stipend of ₹ 14,600 in both groups. Group X airmen will get a salary of ₹ 33,100 per month after training completion while Group Y airmen receive ₹ 26,900 per month along with Dearness Allowance, which is based on the total amount of Pay Band + Grade Pay + MSP.
Other Allowances: There are various allowances such as Transport Allowance, Composite Personal Maintenance Allowance (CPMA), Leave Ration Allowance (LRA), High Altitude Allowance, Field Area/
Modified Field Area Allowance, House Rent Allowance (HRA), Children Education Allowance/ Hostel Subsidy, etc., shall be admissible from time to time as applicable.
Perks: There are perks such as ration, clothing, medical facilities, accommodation, CSD (Canteen) facilities, leave (60 days annual and 30 days casual or as per the terms and conditions at the time of enrolment in a calendar year as a privilege, subject to service exigencies), Recreational facilities, Transport facility for school going children and Leave Travel Concession (LTC) shall also be provided as per the existing rules. There is a Group Insurance Cover of Rs. 50 Lakhs at a premium of Rs. 3200/- per month for all airmen.
There is opportunity for Airmen to get promoted to higher ranks during their tenure in the Indian Air Force with time and experience. If he is within the age group of 19 to 24 years they can apply for selection as a Pilot in the Flying Branch and Ground Duty Branches as an Officer (other than Medical).

● NOC and 4 self-attested photocopies from the employer for those who are presently serving in government organizations.

The procedure of Phase 2 of Indian Air Force Group X & Y:
Aspirants need to possess the above-mentioned papers as the prima-facie eligibility while appearing for the selection test to be scrutinised/verified before the beginning of Phase 2.
Qualified candidates of the online Test will be called on designated Airmen Selection Center for Physical Fitness Test (PFT) on a specified date on the CASB Web Portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in. It consists of 1.6 kilometres to be finished within 06 minutes and 30 seconds, also a minimum of 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, and 20 squats for qualifying in the Physical Fitness Test within the specified moment.
Note: examinees must take their sports shoes and shorts/track pants.
Adaptability Test 1: (Applicable for both Group X & Y):
Qualified candidates of the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) have to sit for the Adaptability Test 1 (objective type - written test) to prove their suitability for the Indian Air Force job role since it involves deployment in different geographical terrain, climate, and operational circumstances.
Adaptability Test 2: (Applicable for both Group X & Y):
Qualified candidates of Adaptability Test 1 must undertake the Adaptability Test-2 by the current policy to prove their adaptation to the Indian Air Force setting and the military lifestyle.
Medical Exam:
Qualified candidates of the Adaptability Test 2 will be awarded at the corresponding ASCs with a letter of the medical appointment which must be downloaded for medical examination at the designated Medical Boarding Center (MBC) on a specified date under CASB internet portal www.airmenselection.cdac.in conducted by the Indian Air Force Medical Team by IAF medical norms.

5. If a candidate completes all phases of the selection procedure, the upper age limit will be 21 years as of the date of enrolment.
