WB SET Eligibility Criteria

WB CSC has defined specific eligibility criteria for candidates who are to appear in the exam. It is advised to all the candidates that they go through the eligibility criteria before filling the application form and starting preparation.

The eligibility criteria is described below-

Age Limit

There is no age limit for the WB SET exam.

Educational Qualification

The candidates must possess the following educational qualification-

  • Have secured at least 55% marks in their Master’s Degree and belong to any UGC accredited Universities/Institutions are eligible for this Test.
  • Have secured 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination for candidates belonging to OBC-non creamy, SC, ST, Economically Weaker Section, and PwD.

Note-

  • Candidates who are in the final year of their Master’s Degree can also apply but they will be eligible for the post only after they clear the exam with at least 55% marks or 50% marks in case they belong to the specified categories.
  • Candidates who belong to transgender category can enjoy certain relaxation in terms of marks.
  • Candidates who completed their Ph.D. before 19/09/1991, are also eligible for 5% relaxation in marks.

WB SET Exam Pattern

The WB SET exam consists of two papers. There are objective-type questions in the exam which are to be marked on the OMR sheets that are provided separately for both the papers. Here is the WB SET exam pattern-

  • This is an offline exam which is conducted in pen and paper mode.
  • Every question carried two marks
  • There is no provision of negative marking.
  • Candidates are provided one hour for paper-I and 2 hours for paper-II.
  • Each question is compulsory.
  • Paper-I contains questions of general nature to assess the divergent thinking, reasoning ability, general awareness, and comprehension skills of the candidates.
