UPPSC Selection Process 2023

The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission will conduct the first stage of the UPPSC selection process, i.e. the Prelims, on 14th May 2023. Those fulfilling the UPPSC PCS eligibility criteria will only be allowed to appear in the entire PCS selection process.

The application process started on 3rd March and closed on 6th April 2023. The first stage which aspirants have to appear for is the Prelims. After which the qualified candidates will be called for the second stage of Mains examination followed by an Interview.

UPPSC Selection Process 2023: Prelims

The first step is the Preliminary exam in the UPPSC selection process where applicants must meet the UPPSC cut-off decided by the exam conducting authorities to make it to the next selection stage, the Mains exam. There are two papers out of which the second paper is qualifying in nature. Aspirants need 33% of the total marks in this paper to qualify for the second stage.

The Prelims exam in the UPPSC selection process will be objective type and consists of a total of 250 questions carrying 400 marks. Candidates must know that there will be a negative marking where 1/3rd of the total marks will be deducted on every incorrect attempt.

UPPSC Mains Selection Process 2023: Mains

The UP PCS Mains exam is the second level of the UPPSC selection process. Those who qualified the Prelims , are allowed to appear for the Mains exam. There have been few changes in the Mains level of the UPPSC selection process.

      As opposed to 6 papers, now there will be 8 papers.

      The four GS papers have been increased to 6 by replacing the two optional subjects.

      The two newly-added papers will be focused on the knowledge of Uttar Pradesh.

      The two papers on General Hindi and Essay writing remain the same.

Candidates who meet or exceed the cut-off marks are eligible for the final stage of the UPPSC selection process. The UPPSC exam pattern for Mains has been provided here for reference of the candidates.

UPPSC Interview Selection 2023: Interview

Those who qualify in the Prelims and Mains are eligible to sit in the Interview stage of the UPPSC Selection Process 2023. The interview is the final stage of the selection criteria, and the candidates are selected on the basis of their Interview scores along with the scores obtained in Mains.

      The Interview stage of the UPPSC selection process carries 100 marks.

      At the time of the interview, applicants must bring all original certificates.

      All credentials are checked at this time, as are all statements made by the applicants.

      The UPPSC interview is undertaken by the interview boards that have been created specifically for this purpose.

The final merit list will be generated after the UPPSC interview by combining the main exam scores and the interview score.
