There are a number of factors that contribute in deciding the final UPPSC cutoff marks. Some of the factors through which the UPPCS cutoff is decided have been discussed below.
● The foremost factor is always the difficulty level of the exam which enables the cutoff to decrease.
● Another important factor is the number of vacancies that have been released by UPPSC, which for the year is 173, considerably lower than in previous years.

According to the UPPSC exam pattern, the exam is held in three phases, Prelims, Mains, and Interview, therefore, the UPPSC PCS cutoff is declared stage-wise. The stages of UPPSC cutoff are as follows:
● UPPSC PCS cutoff Prelims 2023: The UPPSC Prelims cutoff is declared after the declaration of the final UPPSC PCS results for 2023. The UPPSC PCS was held on 14th May 2023, thus, you will be able to check the expected cutoff here. The Prelims has two papers, GS 1 and GS 2. GS 2 (CSAT) is qualifying in nature, i.e. candidates have to score at least 33% marks in it.
● UPPSC Mains Cutoff 2023: those who will obtain the cutoff marks in Prelims will be appearing for the UPPSC PCS Mains exam. The Mains exam has 8 papers for a total of 1500 marks. English paper's marks are excluded from the Mains cutoff.
● UP PCS Final Cutoff 2023: The final cutoff marks are calculated on the basis of the marks scored in Mains and Interviews. Those securing higher marks in the result list will be appointed to Group A and B services in UPPSC.

Q. What is UPPSC cutoff ?
Ans. UPPSC PCS cutoff is the minimum mark that a candidate has to score to be able to move to the next stage of the selection process. The cutoff is released as per the category of the candidate. UPPSC releases the cutoff for Prelims and Mains which is followed by the final cutoff which is decided by combining the marks of Mains and Interviews.
