Aspirants of the SSC Stenographer should know the various stages of selection thoroughly. SSC Stenographer Selection Process is the process on which the recruitment cycle is designed. It is important that they be aware of the different stages and will be helpful in planning and scoring well. The three stages of the SSC Stenographer Selection Process 2023 are Computer Based Test, Skill Test and Document Verification.
According to the SSC Stenographer selection process, those who will qualify the CBT will be selected for the Skill Test for which they should have a thorough knowledge of stenography and should have a typing speed of up to 100 wpm based on which Grade they have applied for.
According to SSC’s guidelines, the SSC Stenographer Selection Process 2023 consists of three stages which includes the following:
Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
Stage 2: Skill Test in Stenography
Stage 3: Document Verification
Aspirants should qualify the first stage of SSC Stenographer selection process which is CBT, after qualifying which, they will be selected for the skill test.
The exam will have 4 sections, namely, General Intelligence and Reasoning (50 marks), General Awareness (50 marks), English Language and Comprehension (100 marks). The total time for answering a total of 200 questions in the CBT is 2 hours.

Those who qualify the CBT exam will be selected for the second stage of SSC Stenographer selection process, the skill test where their practical knowledge of stenography will be tested. They have to type out a dictation within a certain time limit. It is held in either English or Hindi based on the candidate's preference. The different SSC Stenographer skill test criteria for Hindi and English are given below.
● For Grade C, candidates need to type 100 wpm in both English and Hindi. Candidates are provided 40 mins for English and 55 minutes for Hindi.
● For Grade D, candidates need to type 80 wpm in both English and Hindi. Candidates are provided 50 mins for English and 65 minutes for Hindi.
Document Verification is the last stage of SSC Stenographer selection process which is done to verify the information provided by the candidate during the application process. They need to furnish the following document to successfully get recruited for the post of Stenographer.
● Valid Photo ID proof
● Educational Qualification Certificates
● Caste/Category Certificate, if applicable
● PwD Certificate, if applicable
● NOC, in case they are already employed by a Governmental organisation.
The SSC Stenographer cut-off for different categories of candidates is released separately, which are the minimum marks required for candidates to qualify the exam. The category-wise qualifying marks for SSC Stenographer are given in the following table:

In case two or more examinees have scored the same marks, the tie resolution is based on parameters other than overall marks. The norms of SSC Stenographer resolution of ties are provided below.
● Marks scored in General Intelligence & Reasoning.

● As per Date of birth, older candidates will be given preference.
● Alphabetical order of the names of applicants.
