SSC MTS Selection Process 2023

Candidates planning to appear for SSC MTS exam must know SSC MTS Selection Process as it is the basis on which they will qualify the exam. It is important that candidates are aware of all the states of selection so they can prepare in an efficient way. Being aware of the different stages will be helpful in planning and scoring well. The three stages of the SSC MTS Selection Process 2023 are Computer Based Test, PET/PST and Document Verification.

Candidates only need to qualify SSC MTS Paper 1 in which they have to score more marks than the SSC MTS cut off. Candidates need to score more than 40% marks in Session 1 of CBT in order to qualify it. Those candidates who have applied for the Havaldar posts in CBIC and CBN will have to clear the second stage of the SSC MTS Selection Process, then only they will be called for the descriptive exam. Candidates who will score maximum marks in all three stages will be selected by the authorities.

  • The SSC MTS selection process will be made on the basis of marks obtained in Paper 1.
  • In case of a tie, the commission will break the tie by adopting suitable methods as stated in this article below.
  • The final selection and allocation of States/UTs are made on the basis of performance in Paper I and your preference as stated in the application form.
  • The commission releases different SSC MTS cut off for each State/UT.
  • The normalized marks of SSC MTS Paper 1 will be used to determine the merit list.

SSC MTS Selection Process CBT

The first stage of the SSC MTS selection process is the computer-based examination or computer-based test (CBT).  All the important details regarding the SSC MTS selection process for Paper 1 are listed below:

  • The SSC MTS CBT comprises objective-type questions divided into 2 sessions with 2 modules each.
  • SSC MTS paper 1 will be of 90 marks and the duration of the test is 90 minutes.
  • There is a negative marking of 1 mark in the SSC MTS Session 2 exam for every incorrect response made by you.
  • There is no sectional cutoff, however, there is an overall cut-off mark that is decided by the Commission for the CBT.
  • The cutoff marks for SSC MTS Paper 1 will be different for each State/UT.
  • The scores will be released for each candidate as per the normalization process.
  • The candidates securing the cut-off marks will be called for the next stage of the SSC MTS selection process which is descriptive paper (Paper 2).

SSC MTS Document Verification

After the release of SSC MTS result and merit list, the Commission will issue admit cards to the selected candidates for the last and final round of the SSC MTS selection process, i.e. the Document Verification (DV). Here is a list of documents that you have to produce at the time of the SSC MTS Document verification round. You must note that if any information is incorrect in the documents, then you will be debarred from appearing in the examinations of the Commission. The admit cards also consist of the SSC MTS document verification date, time and location where candidates must report to solidify thier selection. 

  • Government-issued ID proof such as Aadhar Card, PAN Card, etc.
  • 10th and 12th certificates
  • Caste/ Category Certificate, if belongs to reserved categories
  • Persons with Disabilities Certificate in the required format, if applicable. 
  • Order/ letter in respect of equivalent Educational Qualifications claimed, indicating the authority (with number and date) under which it has been so treated, in respect of equivalent clause in essential qualifications, if a candidate is claiming a particular qualification as equivalent qualification
  • For Ex-Servicemen (ESM): Undertaking as per Annexure-V or Serving Defence Personnel Certificate as per Annexure-IV, if applicable or Discharge Certificate, if discharged from the Armed Forces
  • Relevant Certificate if seeking any age relaxation
  • No Objection Certificate, in the case already employed in Government/ Government undertaking
  • Document supporting change in name after matriculation on marriage or remarriage or divorce, etc if done so
  • Any other document specified in the admission certificate for DV.

SSC MTS Selection Process: Physical Test

Those candidates who have applied for the post of Havaldar in CBIC and CBN will also have to appear for the Physical Efficiency Test after qualifying the SSC MTS Tier 1. These tests will be conducted for both male and female candidates. Through this test, the conducting authority will determine whether the candidates are physically fit for the aforesaid post or not.

SSC MTS Selection Process 2023 Tie Resolution

There are instances where more than one candidate scores equal aggregate marks, then the tie will be resolved by applying any one of the methods one after another. Below are the SSC MTS selection process for tie resolutions:

  • Whoever secures higher marks in SSC MTS Session 2
  • Date of birth i.e. the candidate who is older in age gets preference
  • Alphabetical order of the names of the candidates
