JPSC Eligibility Criteria 2024

JPSC exam is conducted to recruit candidates in various posts of Deputy Collector, District Minority Welfare Officer, DSP, Jail superintendent etc. Jharkhand PSC exam is one of the sought after exams of the state since lakhs of aspirants appear for the JPSC each year. According to the latest JPSC notification, the eligibility criteria on the basis of which candidates' eligibility is determined on the following lines:

JPSC Age Limit

One of the most vital criteria of a candidate is the JPSC age limit which they need to strictly fall under the age bracket mentioned by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission. The age limit also varies according to the posts. According to the official eligibility criteria  the JPSC age limit is mentioned below.

For Jharkhand Finance Services- 21 years

For Jharkhand Administrative services- 22 years

For Unreserved Male upper age limit should be 37 years

JPSC Age Relaxation

Reserved category candidates are eligible to receive a facility of relaxation in the upper JPSC age limit.

Persons with Benchmark Disability

Maximum 10 years in their respective category

There are certain prerequisites by JPSC to claim the benefit of age relaxation or reservation as given below:

      Candidates must have a Domicile of Jharkhand.

      A candidate claiming for the reservation of seat must produce the category certificate from the competent authority

      Candidates claiming reservation/age relaxation in multiple categories for the JPSC Exam shall be entitled to only one concession, whichever is more beneficial.

JPSC Educational Qualification

Aspirants of the JPSC examination must hold a graduate degree from a recognized university/ equivalent.

      Those in the final year of graduation are not eligible unless they clear their examination by the last date of application submission.

      Those applying for the Jharkhand Yojana service will be eligible if they hold a degree from a recognized University in any of the following subjects: Bachelor in Commerce, Statistics, Mathematics, Geography, Agricultural Science or Civil Engineering.

JPSC Physical Criteria

According to the JPSC Eligibility 2024, the following physical criteria must be met for the following posts of Deputy Superintendent of Police / District Commander / Jail Superintendent and Probation Officer.

The physical standards vary for men and women and across categories.

      Minimum length of reserved / backward and extremely backward class male candidates - 185 cm.

      Minimum length of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Caste male candidates - 182 cm.

      Minimum length of women of unreserved/backward and extremely backward class - 155 cm and a minimum length of women of scheduled caste and scheduled caste - 152 cm

      The minimum measurement of the chest of male candidates of general and backward and very backward classes will be 81 cm without inflating and the minimum measurement of the chest of male candidates of scheduled caste and scheduled caste will be 79 cm without inflating.

There are some other requirements apart from the JPSC age limit. All the candidates must adhere to the following conditions failing which can lead to disqualification.

Marital Status

Female candidates who are married to a person already having another wife & Male married candidates who have more than one wife living will not be eligible for the recruitment unless granted an exemption by the Governor.

Nationality

The Candidate must be a citizen of India

Reservation

The reservation Scheduled Caste, and Scheduled Tribe & Other Backward Class, of Jharkhand, shall be admissible in accordance with the provision of relevant Govt. Rules

Number of Attempts

There shall be no limitation on the number of attempts if a Candidate is eligible otherwise
