The AFCAT exam is conducted online. It contains objective-type multiple-choice questions. There are 100 questions and two hours to solve them. Those who are applying for the Ground Duty (Technical) Branch are also required to clear the EKT exam which is also conducted after the AFCAT exam.

The marking scheme for AFCAT and EKT exam is as follows-
For each correct answer, three marks are avoided.
For each incorrect answer, one mark is deducted.
No mark is awarded for unattempted questions.
The syllabus consists of four subjects. The standard of questions is of matriculation level for numerical ability. For other subjects, the standard of questions is of Graduate level.

History, Geography, Civics, Politics, Current Affairs, Environment, Basic Science, Defence, Art, Culture, Sports, etc.
Decimal Fraction, Time and Work, Average, Profit & Loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion and Simple Interest, Time & Distance (Trains/Boats & Streams).
