UPSC Examination 2021

The UPSC examination is one of India’s most popular examinations. It is officially known as the UPSC CSE or the UPSC Civil service Examination. The exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission that is, of course, a unit under the Indian government.

UPSC examination is taken to recruit candidates in major positions such as IAS, IPS, IFS and other allied services under the Indian government. UPSC Exam 2021 Important Dates

The notifications for the registration and application form filling has been out.

According to the official website of the exam, the registration process starts by 4th of March, 2021 and will continue till 24th of the same month.

The prelims examination is going to be held at the 19th of October, 2021.

The mains exam, the date for the report card and other notifications are going to be declared later in the official webpage of  the exam. You may check the website frequently to know these updates.

Not much of the notifications have been known of the UPSC Vacancies till now. But there are 90 vacant positions for the Indian Forest Service Recruitment 2021 on the official website.

UPSC Exam 2021 Eligibility Criteria

The  UPSC exam eligibility criteria must be understood in detail so that complications are avoided from the very beginning of the exams.

You must be an Indian citizen by the status of your nationality.

Your age limit depends on the category of yours as a candidate. For detailed information, you are welcome to visit the official website of the exam.

A graduation degree from a recognized university is a must for UPSC examination 2021.

UPSC Exam Pattern 2021

There are three parts of the examination in the UPSC exam 2021.

Phase 1: the Prelims Exam

The prelims exam is the first one that initiates the official UPSC test. It is an exam taken in 2 divisions with a total of 400 marks (200 marks for each division).

A total 4 hours is given to you to finish answering the full question paper.

Your performance will be evaluated by the cut off marks (for the first division) as well as qualifying nature (for the second division). For the case of qualifying nature, you’ll need too score 33% in order to qualify CSAT.

Phase 2: The Mains Exam

The mains exam is mainly a descriptive type examination with 9 divisions in total. The total marks for this exam is 2350.

You’d get a total of 27 hours. However, these exams can be taken periodically to allow to time for rest. All of these exams might not be taken in the same day as well.

Phase 3: Interview and Personality Test

The interview finds out your social traits and your knowledge in general affairs to assess your quality as a public service officer since that is a post bearing huge responsibility.

UPSC Exam 2021 Syllabus

For prelims:

  • General Studies Paper I and II

Mostly subjects like general awareness, Indian and World Geography; Indian polity; economic and social development and many are there in paper I.

In paper II, you’ll basically need ti study language comprehension, logical reasoning etc.

For Mains:

  • Paper I: Essay
  • Paper II: Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society
  • Paper III: Polity; Governance; Constitution; Social Justice and Interpersonal Relations
  • Paper IV: Technology; Economic Development; Bio diversity; Environment; Disaster Management and Security
  • Paper V: Integrity; Ethics and Aptitude
  • Paper VI and VII: Optional Paper I and II
