The public service commission has already issued a number of notifications this year. Important Dates

Since the dates and notifications have been given officially, you must check the West Bengal Public Service Commission’s website to know more about dates and examination notifications of the various tests that are to be held this year for innumerable posts.

However, the official dates of the examination have begun from 23rd march. So, it will be better for you to go through the notifications on the website and find the date ascribed to the particular test (related to a post of course) you are looking for.

Eligibility Criteria

In the WBPSC, there are separate categories of jobs as well. In this regard, it must be stated that the said designations have these categories attributed to them, which can be tracked through further investigation into job requirements and features associated to a particular post.

Now, it is time to know about the education you need for being a WBPSC officer.

If you’re targeting for posts belonging to the higher section with a mandatory requirement for trained skills and deep theoretical knowledge (like engineering), then you must have a masters in science or any related field. It is because most of these posts come with the demand of functional skills.

For other posts, you have to have a degree from a recognized University. Your language skills must highlight your reading, writing, listening and speaking abilities.

Examination Pattern

As you know, most government jobs come with the two, basic examinations known as the preliminary (or the prelims) and the Mains examination.

WBPSC exams also happen in the same way.

The preliminary examination is an examination of short questions. You have to answer MCQ questions only. The paper has 200 marks in it as a total and it has 200 questions you have to answer.

The mains Examination also happens in a total of 200 marks. But, you will find two separate papers: The Compulsory and the Optional Paper.
