The WBCS Cut Off depends on various parameters such as the difficulty level of the exam, average performance of aspirants, vacancy, and more. Usually the selected candidates are 10 to 12 times the vacancies which affects the total cutoff. Thus if there are 300 vacancies in WBCS, then 3000 candidates will be selected to write mains. If there are 3000 candidates who get 105 marks or above, then the cut-off will be 105.
There are three stages where WBCS cut off is calculated i.e. Prelims stage, Mains stage, and Final cutoff after the interview process. It must be noted that at the Mains stage, prelims marks are not considered. The final cut-off is based on combined marks of mains and interviews.
Minimum qualifying marks at each stage
The maximum marks in the WBCS prelims exam are 200 since there is only one question paper of 200 marks. In the Mains paper,they require a minimum of 33% marks in all GS papers.
