Usually, NIACL Assistant Examination is conducted in two phases. The first phase is meant for Preliminary or Prelim while the other one is for Mains. 

Prelims Exam Pattern 

You have got a total of 100 questions with 1 marks each. So, the total marks of the examination  is 100. You will get an hour or 60 minutes to finish the examination which can be done in 3 divisions with each division lasting for 20 minutes. 

Mains Examination Pattern 

The Mains examination would offer you a composite 120 minutes or two hours. It has got 250 marks. 

You need to answer a total of 200 questions.

Along with the English test, there is a regional language test. It is of qualifying nature meaning its marks won’t be added to your scores for the prelims or mains. But, you need to qualify it.
