LIC AAO Selection Process 2023

The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) conducts the selection process for Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO) every year to select candidates for the generalist/ IT/ CA/ Actuarial/ Rajbhasha posts. Aspirants of the exam about to start their preparation for the examination must go through the selection process of the LIC AAO. This will assist the candidates in understanding the exam pattern.

The LIC AAO 2023 exam has two CBT exams (Phase I and Phase II) and a personal interview. The marks of the language paper are not included in the merit list. Phase I is qualifying in nature whereas marks of phase II and interview are considered for the merit list.

LIC AAO Selection Process: Phase I (Prelims)

The first phase of the LIC AAO is common for all the posts. This exam is meant to screen serious candidates for Phase II. The Phase I exam has three sections namely Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension.

All the questions are objective. There is sectional timing of 20 minutes for each section. The English language is qualifying in nature, marks will not be included in the merit list for mains.

** The marks of English language are not considered for the merit list prepared to select candidates for mains examination. The English language is qualifying in nature.

The selection criteria for Phase I

       Candidates will be selected for the mains on the basis of their scores in the prelims exam.

       The cut off will be prepared on the basis of scores of candidates and the number of vacancies. Only 20 times the number of vacancies will be called for the mains exam for each category.

       Each question is 1 mark.

       There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

LIC AAO Selection Process: Phase II (Mains)

The Phase II of LIC AAO consists of both objection types as well as descriptive type questions. There are 2 subjective questions for language tests (English/ Hindi). The language test is only qualifying in nature. Marks will not be included in the final merit list.

Features of Phase II examination

       Both the papers (descriptive & objective) are conducted on the same day, one after the other.

       The descriptive paper is an online paper. Candidates need to type the answers on the computer.

       All the sections have separate time. The section will automatically switch to next after the time is over.

LIC AAO Selection Process: Phase III (Interview)

Those who will score the mains minimum qualifying marks and cut-off, decided by the LIC will appear for the personal interview. Only the marks of the mains exam will be considered for the shortlisting of candidates for interview. The number of candidates to be called for an interview will be 3 times the number of vacancies. The interview is 60 marks.

Each candidate needs to qualify for the interview otherwise their candidature will be canceled. The minimum qualifying marks for interview are given below:

            How many phases are there in the LIC AAO exam?

            The LIC AAO is divided into three phases namely Phase I, Phase II and Interview exam.

             

            Is there negative marking in the LIC AAO exam?

Yes, there is negative marking in LIC AAO Phase I as well as in Phase II exam.

How many questions are there in Phase I of LIC AAO?

There are a total of 100 questions of 70 marks. The marks of the English language exam will not be considered in the merit list.

How many questions are there in the Phase II exam?

There are 120 questions of 300 marks. Phase II has both objective and subjective questions. The marks of language questions will not be considered in the final selection.

Will marks of Phase I be included in the merit list?

No, phase i is only qualifying in nature. The marks of the prelims exam will not be included in the final merit list.
